Proven method
Practice
You spend 70% of your learning time in the professional kitchen.
Every participant works directly with dough, oven and technique, supported by the instructor at a ratio of 1:9. The workflow follows real day-to-day production in a pizzeria – right through to working at peak times.
Theory
Short, focused sessions accompany every practical phase: dough chemistry, fermentation, HACCP and food safety, food cost, team organisation. Every participant receives the Student Learning Book as an accompanying handbook.
3 progressive modules
MODULE 1 · 100 HOURS
You learn the fundamentals of the craft: ingredients, dough chemistry and the individual production stages — plus hygiene, HACCP and organising your work station safely.
MODULE 2 · 100 HOURS
You deepen your expertise: classic, Neapolitan and Roman pizza styles, working with preferments such as biga and poolish, and teamwork during real peak times.
MODULE 3 · 80 HOURS
You take on responsibility: team leadership, food cost calculation and shift planning — everything you need to run a pizza station profitably.
How the Bildungsgutschein works
The Bildungsgutschein is the funding voucher issued by the Agentur für Arbeit. If it is approved, the Agentur covers the full cost of the course.
The funding decision is made solely by the Agentur für Arbeit. Make Pizza Academy provides the required documents and supports the application, but cannot guarantee approval.
Frequently asked questions
1. Do I need previous experience for the pizza chef training?
No. The training is aimed both at career changers without previous knowledge and at people with practical experience in hospitality but no formal qualification.
2. What level of German do I need for the training?
German skills are required to follow the lessons and to work safely in a professional kitchen. We discuss the exact level individually in the consultation before registration.
3. Can the pizza chef training be funded with a Bildungsgutschein?
Yes, the course is AZAV-approved and can be funded up to 100% with a Bildungsgutschein from the Agentur für Arbeit. The funding decision is made solely by the Agentur für Arbeit; we provide the required documents and support you with your application.
4. How much does the pizza chef training cost without funding?
The training costs €2,590. With an approved Bildungsgutschein there are no costs for you — in the consultation we clarify together whether funding is an option for you.
5. When does the next course start?
We are happy to discuss current dates in a personal conversation after you register — simply fill in the form below.
6. Does registering my interest commit me to anything?
No. It only allows us to contact you with all the information and secures you priority when places are allocated.
7. Is hygiene training (HACCP) part of the course?
Yes — hygiene, HACCP basics and infection control are a fixed part of the training content. The official instruction under § 43 of the Infektionsschutzgesetz (German Infection Protection Act) and the corresponding certificate are issued exclusively by the Gesundheitsamt.
8. What qualification do I receive after the pizza chef training?
The training is certified and can be funded through the Agentur für Arbeit. After passing the practical and theoretical exam, you receive the Make Pizza Academy final certificate as a qualified pizza chef. It documents the skills you have gained over 280 hours of practice and theory in a verifiable way and is tailored to what employers need.
9. Is the training online or in person?
The course takes place entirely in person — in the classroom and the teaching kitchen in Berlin. There are no online components, as the craft of pizza making requires hands-on guidance and immediate feedback.
